Kostum Baru Manchester City 2013/2014 – Klub liga primer Inggris, Manchester City secara resmi baru saja meluncurkan kostum baru setelah menandatangani kesepakatan kerjasama dengan perusahaan raksasa pakaian olahraga asal AS, Nike, senilai £72 juta selama enam tahun. Tentu saja jersey terbaru Manchester City musim depan ini tidak hanya demi penampilan tetapi lebih kepada nilai ekonominya.
Tom Glick, direktur keuangan Manchester City mengatakan, jaringan distribusi Nike yang luas akan “menjamin keberadaan klub di pasar yang membentang luas dari Afrika, Eropa, Asia hingga Amerika.”
Sebelumnya, klub milik pengusaha asal Arab Saudi Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan ini mengenakan kostum buatan perusahaan pakaian asal Inggris, Umbro.
Kostum baru Manchester City ini akan diluncurkan di New York, ketika klub yang bermarkas di Kota Manchester, Inggris, ini akan melakukan tour ke AS.
Rencananya kostum baru itu akan dikenakan para pemain Manchester City saat melawan Chelsea dalam rangka tour di AS.
Kesepakatan kerjasama dengan Nike ini diumumkan setelah mereka memutuskan bekerja sama dengan klub basebal New York Yankees untuk membentuk klub sepak bola baru di liga profesional Amerika, MLS.
Klub baru yang bakal menggunakan nama New York City akan ikut dalam MLS pada 2015 dalam kesepakatan bernilai US$100 juta.
Mereka akan turun di lapangan sementara sampai stadion baru dibangun.
Bagaimanapun, keuntungan ekonomi Manchester City dari kesepakatan dengan Nike ini akan mendongkrak pendapatan klub tersebut. (BBC)
